  • Jerry Weichman, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Adolescent Specialist

    Dr. Jerry Weichman Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and adolescent specialist as well as an author, speaker and parenting expert. His clinical practice at Hoag Hospital’s Neurosciences Institute in Newport Beach, California provides a window on contemporary teen and pre-teen behavior. He also founded The Weichman Clinic and its Teen Brain Program — the first and only truly comprehensive mental wellness program exclusively focused on children and adolescents.

    “Dr. Jerry” as his adolescent patients call him, is a young Ph.D. who really relates to teens, speaks their lingo and has felt their pain. Author of the teen survival guide, How to Deal, and noted media expert on teen issues, Dr. Jerry is focused on helping teens cope with parents, teachers, friends and academic pressure, communicating with them in a way they understand and relate to — helping them successfully navigate the dramas and pressures of adolescence. He has helped over 3000 teens over 17 years in private practice.

    Dr. Jerry’s popular speeches, lectures and seminars have been presented to assemblies of students, teachers, parents and administrators in middle schools and high schools across Southern California and in several states. Some of the topics Dr. Jerry speaks regularly about include violence, bullying/cyber bullies, substance abuse, sexting, depression, academic performance, parental expectations, teen sex, eating disorders, body-image issues, stress related disorders, behavior problems, and teenage social drama.

    In his parenting seminars, Dr. Jerry reveals current trends in technology and social media and includes practical approaches and tips for communicating with today’s teen and for helping then overcome the trials and tribulations of dealing with the stress and anxiety resulting from academic as well as social pressures like bullying, drug use, drinking, teen sex, and other self-destructive behaviors.

    A popular and well respected media resource, Dr. Jerry has been interviewed by the New York Times, Washington Post and LA Times and has been asked to appear on major networks, ABC and Fox. He also sits on the Advisory Board for the Crisis Text Line, a subsidiary of and is a regular contributing expert at award winning parenting website

  • Andrea Brokaw, PsyD., Clinical Psychologist, Pediatric and Adolescent Specialist

    Dr. Andrea Brokaw is a licensed psychologist specializing in working with children, adolescents, and families.  She provides individual and family therapy, parenting, as well as psychological diagnostic and testing services for children and adolescents.

    She has experience and training in treating young adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, disruptive behaviors, academic difficulties, trauma, substance abuse, eating disorders, ADHD, social difficulties, and bipolar disorder. Dr. Brokaw utilizes developmentally appropriate treatment methods and frequently utilizes Play Therapy for her younger clients.  She is also trained in several evidenced based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

    She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Orange, CA. She is board Certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA), and an adjunct Professor at Argosy University Orange County.

    In her free time Dr. Brokaw enjoys spending time with friends and family.  She frequently enjoys time at the beach, in the mountains, and visiting new places.

  • Paul Cloud, AMFT, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

    Paul Cloud is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. He has experience working with children, adolescents, families, and couples who face challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship dynamics, communication, as well as the general stressors of every day life. Paul’s therapeutic focus is to assist clients in distilling the underlying core thoughts and emotions that may be inhibiting a more gratifying life experience, while providing various coping strategies to identify, adapt and overcome.

    Paul received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology and social behavior from the University of California, Irvine and his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. When he is not working, Paul enjoys ballroom dancing, hiking, cinema, and sharing time with friends and family.

  • Matt Fleischman, LMFT, Marriage and Family Therapist, Adolescent/Young Adult Specialist

    Matt Fleischman has more than a decade of experience helping teens, young adults, families and children. He specializes in providing emotional support paired with a goal-oriented, collaborative approach to treat behavior problems, adjustment issues, poor social skills and relationship difficulties.

    A basketball coach and player as well as an avid outdoorsman, Matt holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University.

  • Rebecca Garfinkle, D.O., FAAP, Pediatric and Adolescent Neurologist

    Dr. Rebecca Garfinkle’s mission is to provide compassionate neurologic care for children and teens. She diagnoses ADHD, autism, epilepsy, headaches, concussions, movement disorders and epilepsy and offers expert continuing treatment.

    Board-certified in neurology, Rebecca earned her undergraduate degree in physiological sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles and received her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medical Biological Sciences. She honed her clinical skills and continued her education in Honolulu; Fairbanks, Alaska; Washington D.C., and San Antonio, where she worked with military veterans who had suffered traumatic brain injuries.

    A San Diego native, she is happy to be raising her two young children in warm weather. She and her husband enjoy outdoor activities and a variety of cuisines.

  • Harpreet Kaur, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Pediatric and Adolescent Specialist

    Dr. Harpreet Kaur is a licensed psychologist specializing in individual and group treatment of children, adolescents and families. She has extensive training and experience in treating a range of psychological disorders including anxiety, depression, trauma and selective mutism. She creates a collaborative environment and tailors her treatment plan to meet the needs of her patients and families using a number of evidenced based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, Dr. Kaur has been trained by the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute in the use of hypnosis for children and adolescents.

    Dr. Kaur received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Colorado in the Medical Day Treatment Program in Aurora, CO where she provided individual and group treatment to medically complex children and adolescents. Dr. Kaur served as a staff psychologist at Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine following the completion of her fellowship.

    Dr. Kaur enjoys running, hiking, reading, baking, and spending time with her friends and family during her free time.

  • Jacob A. Palm, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Psychological Assessment

    Jacob A. Palm, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience in psychological testing and assessment. Dr. Palm specializes in diagnostic, emotional. interpersonal attachment, and personality assessment, with additional specific expertise in neuropsychological evaluation.

    Dr. Palm is a graduate of Fordham University where he received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He completed his American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited Doctoral Internship at The Guidance Center, a non-profit community mental health agency in Long Beach, California, where he later supervised and trained clinicians in psychological assessment for nearly a decade. He is affiliated with Miller Children’s Hospital, where he provides neuropsychological assessments and consultation; Promises Treatment Center, where he conducts forensic personality assessments and evaluations; and is on faculty at Santiago Canyon College.

    Having grown up on the East Coast, Dr. Palm appreciates the weather and outdoor activities Southern California has to offer. Trained as a professional chef, he enjoys cooking, gardening, entertaining, competitive soccer, writing, and travel.

  • Kwitka Peratt, M.D., Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatrist

    Dr. Kwitka Peratt is a medical doctor who specializes in the medical evaluation and treatment of emotional and behavioral difficulties in children and teenagers. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has certified her in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. An Orange County native, she majored in biological sciences and psychology at the University of California, Irvine and then attended medical school at the University of Southern California.

    When this kid at heart is not at work, she enjoys amusement park rides, watching her beloved Trojans play football and relaxing with family and friends.

  • Lisa Phillips, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Pediatric Specialist

    Dr. Lisa Phillips provides collaborative, goal-oriented, supportive and personalized cognitive-behavior therapy to children and teens. She has extensive experience as a therapist, counselor and case manager and has served as adjunct faculty member, teaching psychology classes at several universities.

    Dr. Lisa earned her doctorate from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and her master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, both in clinical psychology. Her undergraduate degree is from San Diego State University. She completed her clinical internship at USC Children’s Hospital and has practiced psychology for 12 years.

    She and her husband look forward to their yearly trips to Sweden, her homeland, with their two children.

  • Stephen Pines, PsyD., Clinical Psychologist, Psychological Assessment

    Dr. Stephen Pines is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment and assessment of adolescents and young adults.

    He has extensive training and experience treating clients struggling with depression, anxiety, academic struggles, trauma, self-esteem issues, ADHD, relationship problems, substance abuse, LGBT issues and bipolar disorder.

    Additionally, Dr. Pines regularly conducts psychological testing for ADHD, psychological disorders, and learning disabilities.

    He earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.

    Outside of work, Dr. Pines enjoys spending time with family, having an active lifestyle, and hiking.

    Sandra Ruiz is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her experience includes helping children, adolescents, and families navigate emotional distress stemming from social and family dynamics, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other psychological stressors. Sandra utilizes evidenced based approaches to guide clients in developing coping, prosocial, and advocacy skills to attain treatment goals.

    Sandra received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Fullerton. In her spare time, Sandra loves traveling, enjoying nature, and running after her toddler.

  • Sina Safahieh, M.D., Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatrist

    Dr. Sina Safahieh is a medical doctor, who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed an adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent fellowship at University of California Irvine.

    Dr. Safahieh graduated with highest honors and a BBA in Business Management from the University of Texas in Austin. He is fluent in Farsi and conversational Spanish.

  • Neha Saluja, LMFT, Pediatric and Adolescent Specialist

    Neha Saluja is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist experienced in working with children, adolescents, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, difficult family dynamics, simple and complex traumas, and daily life stressors. Neha uses a collaborative problem solving approach combined with a direct and supportive communication style to assist her clients in accomplishing their goals and living more fulfilling lives.

    Neha received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. In her spare time, Neha enjoys comedy shows, spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and being active.

  • Jenna Sanders, AMFT, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Pediatric and Adolescent Specialist

    Jenna is a registered Associated Marriage & Family Therapist, who has extensive experience working with children, young adults, and families as a Masters student and registered AMFT.  She graduated with honors and earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology in 2016. Jenna is also an alum of the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated cum laude with a double major in Communications and Business.

    Jenna has held several counseling and therapist positions, working with a diverse population, which affords her a unique perspective and distinctive approach to her therapeutic techniques and orientation.  Jenna has a passion for empowering her clients to gain insight and a deeper understanding of their core beliefs and values and how to leverage that to further understand their interpersonal relationships. Drawing on a variety of counseling and therapeutic techniques, she guides clients to building a stronger foundation for a healthy future and stronger understanding of themselves.

  • Lindsey Sterling, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Autism Spectrum Disorders

    Dr. Lindsey Sterling is a licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disorders. She has extensive experience performing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for youth and adults with suspected ASD.

    Much of Dr. Sterling’s research and specialized training has focused on understanding and treating comorbid disorders, such as anxiety and depression, among individuals with ASD. She has published numerous research papers on the topic of ASD and comorbid anxiety and depression. Dr. Sterling has been working in the field of ASD for almost twenty years and is passionate about helping individuals and their families cope with the challenges associated with having ASD and related developmental disorders.

    Dr. Sterling earned her undergraduate degree in Psychobiology from UCLA and her Masters degree and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. She completed her Clinical Internship in Developmental Disabilities at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where she worked with adults with developmental disabilities and children with a range of psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety.

    During her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Department of Psychiatry, UCLA, Dr. Sterling pursued specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) targeting anxiety in youth with ASD. Following her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Sterling served on the clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA and as a Staff Psychologist at the UCLA Child and Adult Neurodevelopmental Clinic. She then served as Interim Professor and Director of the Autism Center at Claremont McKenna College and as a tenure-track Professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University Long Beach.

    Dr. Sterling is an Orange County native, and in her spare time enjoys the beach, exploring new local restaurants, and traveling with her husband and their two children.

  • Ashley White, LMFT, Marriage and Family Therapist, Adolescent Specialist

    Ashley White helps children, tweens, teens and young adults successfully navigate life’s challenges. By creating a supportive environment, Ashley guides individuals and families through relationship and communication difficulties, self-esteem and body image issues and feelings of depression and/or anxiety. Her goal is to help clients develop and maintain a balanced, well-rounded sense of self.

    In her education and career, Ashley has focused on family relationships, teen growth and development and satisfaction with body shape and weight. She holds a graduate degree from University of La Verne and enjoys being active, spending time with family and traveling.
